       “Balancing the Scales of Justice”

I am Bill Smith, a Florida licensed Private Investigator, and resident of Collier County, Florida, where I have lived and worked for almost thirty-five years.

Bill Smith, Private Investigator, Smith Investigations, Naples, Florida

My investigative background began with law enforcement training and experience that I gained during my employment as a law enforcement officer with the Detroit Police Department, in Detroit, Michigan, which is one of the largest metropolitan areas in America.

While serving in that capacity, I learned how to develop the information necessary to initiate a criminal case; conduct a thorough and systematic investigation; produce and present complete, comprehensible case summaries and support successful prosecutions. In addition to training regarding police equipment, procedures and techniques, this experience served to introduce me to, and familiarize me with, the complexities, and intricacies, of criminal law and procedures.

I subsequently served as the Supervisor of Collier County Code Enforcement in Naples, Florida where I had the sole responsibility for ensuring compliance with administrative policies, county ordinances and Florida Statutes. This entailed training and supervising investigators as to the investigative techniques needed for the successful prosecution of cases that were referred to the Code Enforcement Board for administrative review, or the State Attorney's Office for prosecution through the Collier County Court.

I later served as an Investigator for the 20th Judicial Circuit Court, assigned to the Domestic Violence Unit in Collier County, Florida, where I was responsible for the investigation of allegations regarding petitions for civil injunctions, as well as the investigation of complaints regarding violations of existing injunctions. My case reports were forwarded to the Office of the State Attorney for criminal prosecution, or civil disposition.

I was a Deputy Court Administrator of the 20th Judicial Circuit Court, in Collier County Florida, where I was responsible for: coordinating family court assignments; the implementation of family law case management programs; managing the Juvenile Diversion Program, and coordinating all matters pertaining to the Juvenile Drug Court Program.

After leaving government I was employed by the Criminal Defense firm of Berry, Day & Mc Fee as the full time investigator to Attorney Donald Day. During this time as an investigator I conducted investigations and assisted in trial preparations on Capital Murder cases, Battery, Assaults, DUI's, Domestic Violence, Drug cases, and crime scene analysis.

In sum, I have almost thirty years experience before the Judges of the 20th Judicial Circuit, where I have testified in civil and criminal cases, both as an Investigator, and an Expert Witness.
